Concerts by the Arundo Clarinet Quartet

For over 20 years the Arundo Clarinet Quartet has been providing musical entertainment of the highest quality both on and away from the concert platform. The quartet still boasts its original personnel.

They have given concerts at many music clubs and have appeared in festivals in Guildford, Chelmsford, Ormskirk and St Albans. As representatives of Great Britain, they have performed at the International Clarinet Congress in Belgium. Regular engagements in the quartet's schedule have included foyer concerts at the Royal Festival Hall, National Theatre and the Barbican Centre along with open evenings at the Victoria & Albert Museum.

For Arundo's tenth anniversary Gordon Lewin wrote his colourful suite "South to the Sun". This was featured in the quartet's series of celebratory recitals and subsequently recorded for the composer. Other works commissioned by the quartet include "Five Follies" by Anthony Leach and the "Wealden Suite" by the late Ruth Gipps MBE.

The quartet aims to present well balanced, accessible concert programmes, including our own arrangements of classical favourites in order to produce a complete spectrum of musical styles. Their approach is friendly and the players introduce each concert item.

As well as more formal evening recitals the quartet are very happy to give family concerts with lively introductions to their instruments.
